This is our least favourite port and we've decided that on our next cruise (yes there will be a next cruise!) we may not bother getting off the ship. We'll obviously decide at the time, possibly we could get a bus into Nadi (pronounced Nandi) and have a look around there. We did stop there on our very first cruise to go to the bank and from the brief visit it didn't look that special!
Port Denaru is a tender port and it is a long hot trip in the tender! It takes about 25 minutes. As with all tender ports you have to collect at tender ticket, from the Lido Deck, and all of your group have to get their own ticket. They always want you to be ready to go once you've got your ticket to try and help speed things up a bit. By the time we were ready to catch a tender they had finished with the tickets and you just went down to the gangway when you were ready. The gangway is accessed from mid ship Deck 1 down stairs to Deck A. (there is a lift if you are unable to use the stairs)
This stop is all about tourist - there are about 8 resorts within a 10 minute Bula Bus drive surrounding Port Denaru. The first time we were here the Bula Buses were free now they're $8 per person (kids under 10 free). We didn't think it was worth it as all you did was go from resort to resort. We got off at the Westin, had a quick look around and took some happy snaps (you could see the ship from a few of the resorts) and then we hopped back on the next bus.
After browsing some of the shops and, I admit it, buying a few items we headed back to the tenders and 'yay' we got to go on the Yellow catamaran! Woohoo, this was much bigger and faster. It only took about 10 minutes. I think it held about 3 times more than then tender. They had been using this and another catamaran in the morning to help with the tendering process.

Lunch in the buffet and then to find a pod. Mum and the boys had fun on the waterslides, mum braved the yellow slide but not the green thunder, that was a bit much for her! It's great having the slides especially with the weather being hot, the boys really enjoyed them. After watching all the tenders being packed away we hurried downstairs to change for dinner - time just got away from us!
Another superb dinner! Mister 8 was hooked on the spring rolls and mister 13 tried the mussels (thumbs up!) for mains he had his usual, chicken schnitzel and mister 8 had prawn cocktail - three of them! I think at the start of the cruise he got one and then the next time he ordered them he was given two and tonight 3. Maybe he looked extra hungry! He wasn't complaining though.
We had a frog towel animal waiting for us back in our cabin.
