Dawn Princess - Wednesday 20 January, Port Vila

We've been to Port Vila a few times now on cruises but having our own balcony to watch us sail in was such a privilege and meant we could just roll out of bed, grab our camera and step out onto our balcony without having to shower and dress and then head up stairs! We also had our tea & coffee delivered so we were very spoilt!

Port Vila's a beautiful port to sail into and we had a gorgeous day. Blue skies and calm, clear water. After we'd docked we headed to Horizon for our brekky - never start a cruise day without breakfast!

Seeing as the ship docks we could just walk on off, no queues as we didn't have anything planned so didn't need to get off straight away. Once off we checked out the markets and then caught a water taxi into town. Such a great way to get into town, much better than a cab or bus which are generally not air conditioned and very hot. The water taxi only takes about 10 minutes and goes around Iririkki Island which is currently closed due to damage it received during the cyclone about 12 months ago. There was a lot of work going on so hopefully it won't be too long until it's reopened.

Water Taxi's lined up - on our way into Vila on one!

Port Vila hasn't changed much since our last time but you could see the damage that the cyclone had done.

We did a bit if walking and then looked at a few shops before heading back to the water to get our taxi back to the ship. There are plenty of water taxi's so we didn't have to wait long. It's $5pp each way.

We relaxed on our balcony with a cuppa and some divine cakes - the sweets on the Dawn were fantastic! The only thing they didn't do well were the choux pastry desserts but everything else, yummo!

Afternoon tea - love their pavs!

Sailaway was beautiful - it's surreal sailing out of Port Vila again. After our very first cruise in 2010 we didn't know if we'd ever do another cruise and 6 years later we've been to Vila about 6 times!! How lucky are we?? I had to pinch myself and make sure it was real and I wasn't just daydreaming while looking through my photo albums. Needless to say, we've got the cruising bug!

This is certainly the life!

Bye Vila!
