Ovation of the Seas - Balcony Cabin 13568

Ok, so we've been allocated our cabin (this was done at the time of our booking in October 2016) and it's on deck 13! Deck 13! All the other ships we've been on didn't have a deck 13! Superstition an all.

Our cabin - Under deck 14, above tender number 1

It's a Superior Balcony Twin - D4.

Well thankfully there is a deck 13 on the Ovation and cabin 568 was ours. Beautiful room, so much space with a big sofa, two wardrobes, lots of drawers and even more cupboards above our beds.

The bathroom was compact but very well laid out, enough room to do what you need to do in there! Loved the shower although a couple of times the water wasn't very hot but most days it was just right. There are no toiletries provided aside from soap and a shower gel/shampoo dispenser in the shower (we didn't know which one it was as it isn't labelled). I think you maybe able to ask your room attendant, we never did as we had our own, as we did see some small bottles and tubes on the trolleys when they were in the corridor.

The cabin is a modern, contemporary design with blues, greys, creams and beige. The power points are US/European so bring an adapter but there are lots of them as well as usb ports.

Our sea passes (cruise cards) were waiting for us at our cabin. Mum's was at the door so we could use that to get into our cabin and mine was on the bed. Just as you walk into our cabin on the left was a little slot which you needed to put one of the cruise cards to activate the lights, air conditioner etc. Make sure you remember to take it when you leave your cabin!

There is a kettle with tea, sugar and milk. You need to bring you own coffee if your a coffee drinker. We found having a kettle in our room super! Cuppa on the balcony every morning, yes please! Afternoon cuppa, indeed!

A small fridge is in the cupboard under where the kettle, to the left are large drawers - one that has a hairdryer (it managed to dry my hair and that's saying something!) and a box of tissues. I had read a review and they complained there were no tissues, I'm guessing they didn't look in the drawer! Our room attendant (Inyoman) would also bring an ice bucket if required - you can either ask him when you see him or ring the number of his card that he'll give you (or I guess leave if he doesn't catch up with you on the first day).

The tv is huge and mounted onto the wall, ours was in front of the beds but possibly with the reverse configuration (ie lounge closest to the balcony) it maybe in front of the lounge? It has various tv channels as well as ship cams and the map/destination channel plus you can also use it to book shows, restaurants, activities etc and check on how much money you've spent! Room service is also ordered via your tv. Some things are complimentary some things have a small charge. If there wasn't a kettle in the room we definitely would have had the continental breakfast delivered each morning :-)

Cabin 13568 - the bedroom area
The balcony was a good size especially for two people. There were two lounge chairs plus foot rests and a round table. Having an all glass railing, which was a good height (no chance of falling over board!) meant you had an amazing view whether you were sitting or standing. Being on the 'in' bit of the side meant you couldn't see the front or rear of the ship but I don't think that mattered. It also has an overhang from deck 14 above, which again, didn't matter and if anything may help with bad weather etc We were lucky and didn't have any bad weather so didn't get to test this theory out. I had read a review where they didn't like the over hang but each to their own. We were excited to have a balcony as we generally have an outside cabin and a couple of times in inside, so any balcony's a good balcony to us! If you had friends or family next door you were able to open the side balcony doors up and join them - we would definitely do this! I hope we one day do get to do this :-)

Here are a couple of piccies of our wonderful cabin, 568 deck 13, on the Ovations of the Seas
