Pacific Dawn - Sunday 12 September 2010 - First sea day

For the whole cruise we all took Avomine - which is a seasickness tablet. We'd asked a few people who'd cruised before and also checked with the chemist and Avomine seemed to be the most popular. We had decided before we cruised that we'd take it from the very beginning, we didn't want to test whether or not we'd get seasick (we were all pretty sure we would) so we started the day before our cruise and then took one every evening before dinner. They can make you drowsy not that we really noticed but we all did sleep really well on the cruise. Mum was a little unwell the very first night/morning but nothing that some sea air and a big ol' buffet breakfast couldn't fix!
Lido - great place to hang during sea days
Each evening you will get a Pacific Daily newsletter which lets you know what's happening each day. It will list all the activities, where they're being run and when plus updates on weather and the dress code for dinner each night. There are 2 theme nights (pirate and hawiian) and then a couple of cocktail/formal nights - none of them are compulsory. They do ask that you dress nicely for the Waterfront Restaurant (no thongs or shorts) but no more so than if you were going out for dinner somewhere nice at home. The buffet is a lot more casual - this is actually where we ended up eating most of our meals.
Another great place to hang out is the back of the ship - there are 2 spas here (adults only). The deck below this one pictured above is The Oasis, which is an adults only area. We didn't go here as we had a 10yo with us but it's basically the same just with fancier deck chairs and there is a bar there.

We did some more exploring, Miss 10 joined the kids club (which she LOVED) so after that we hardly saw her! The Dome was one of our most favourite parts of the ship - a fabulous place to sit during the day.

Dance lessons where held in The Done

After a tiring day at sea ;-) we headed to the buffet for yet more food! That is one thing you know you will be right with, food- you will never starve on a cruise!
