Jewels of the Orient - Days 1 and 2 16-17 Oct 2019, heading to Port Macquarie & Sydney

It's finally here, our trip to China and Japan begins now!

Heading off this morning at 7am down to Port Macquarie, hopefully I've packed everything. Arrived at around 12pm just in time for lunch. Mum's almost packed and we've checked we've both got our passports and all travel documents.

Thursday 17 Oct - We flew down to Sydney from Port Macquarie all on time and no dramas although we did hit the tarmac in Sydney very hard. I thought a tyre would pop! Grabbed our bags from the carousel and headed off to the Ibis Budget which was just nest door to the domestic airport. An easy flat walk and we were there within 10 mins. Thankfully we could check in. We dropped our bags off in the room, laughed at how tiny the bathroom was and then headed back out. We were going into Sydney to wander around and bit and grab some lunch. We walked to Mascot Train Station, about 30mins, there is a lot of road works going on so I would not recommend going to or from this station with suitcases as some people had suggested to save you the train fare to the airport station. Not work it!

We were looking for Betty's Burgers but couldn't find it so ended up at The Burger Project and had the worst chicken burger ever even though they claim to have the best burgers in Australia. After popping into Woollies so mum could get some cough lollies (and I bought some chocolate coated pretzels) we headed back to the hotel and then dinner at KFC (which is just next door) and then to bed for a good(!) nights sleep as tomorrow is going to be a long day!

I organised our transfer to the International terminal when we checked in this morning, leaves at about 9.30am so at least we get a relaxing start to the day after we've had our $1 buffet continental brekky!
