An email came through the other day advising of a 7 day P&O Cruise sale, so what's a girl to do! I checked out our usual online cruise sites, Ozcruising, CruiseSaleFinder and Cruise Guru, narrowed it down to 3 cruises. 11 night PNG cruise on the Pacific Jewel, 18 night South Pacific & beyond cruise on the Pacific Aria and a 14 night NZ cruise also on the Aria.
We haven't been on the Aria and all itineraries are going to places we haven't cruised to before. I'm still keeping an eye on the NZ cruise as this is one that we'd love to do but ended up booking the PNG on the Pacific Jewel!! It leaves on August 26 from the OPT and we cannot wait!
I haven't been to PNG or on the Jewel since it's refurb last year. Mum's been on her, she did the cruise from Singapore to Brisbane after it had come out of dry dock and also went to PNG but not all of the stops this cruise is doing. It's only got 4 ports and one is Brisbane but we don't mind. It'll be nice to visit some new ports and to just enjoy being on a cruise. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the Pantry is like. This was one of the main changes for the Jewel, swapping out the traditional buffet for the all new dining experience of the Pantry. I've read good and bad, mum liked it, so I'll go in with open eyes and an empty belly! I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it!
We've got an outside cabin on deck 6 - no balcony this time but that's fine. As much as we loved having the balcony we'd prefer to get a super bargain, which means we hopefully will be able to do more cruise (maybe even another one this year!) than spend extra on a balcony. The P&O sale didn't seem to include the balcony or higher cabins, they were all still quite pricey.
Anyway, CRUISE!!! We are excited.
